HPB Jan 07, 2021
Elfrink AKE, Haring MPD, de Meijer VE, et al. - Researchers sought to present a nationwide overview of postoperative outcomes after laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) and open liver resection (OLR) of benign liver tumour (BLT). They studied a total of 415 patients undergoing BLT resection for hepatocellular adenoma, haemangioma and focal nodular hyperplasia in the Netherlands from 2014 to 2019. Of these patients, 230 (55.4%) underwent LLR. Outcomes suggested shorter hospital stay and reduced overall morbidity in correlation with LLR for BLT and supported preferring it if technically feasible.
