Surgical management of supratentorial intracerebral haemorrhages: Endoscopic vs open surgery
World Neurosurgery Mar 30, 2018
Eroglu U, et al. - Intracerebral haematoma drainage was compared in two groups of 17 patients each, treated with minimally invasive neuro-endoscopic method vs craniotomy in order to ascertain the surgical management of supratentorial intracerebral haemorrhages. Better surgical outcomes were observed for patients in the early surgery group. GCS increased from 6 to 11 at 1 week postoperatively in the NE group, compared with 5 to 9 in the craniotomy group. Findings suggest that for treating supratentorial spontaneous cerebral haematomas, minimally invasive endoscopic haematoma evacuation could be a good alternative surgical method.
