Surgical conditions with rocuronium vs suxamethonium in cesarean section: A randomized trial
International Journal of Obstetric Anesthesia Aug 28, 2019
Bláha J, Nosková P, Hlinecká K, et al. - In this study including 90 patients undergoing cesarean section under general anesthesia, researchers compared parturients who received deep neuromuscular block with rocuronium (0.6 mg/kg) with those who had induction with suxamethonium (1 mg/kg) with respect to surgical conditions for delivery. They assessed times to delivery and the quality of surgical conditions, by means of a five-point Surgical Rating Scale for Delivery ranging from 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent). Between rocuronium and suxamethonium, the induction-to-delivery intervals were comparable but better surgical conditions for fetal delivery were provided by rocuronium than suxamethonium, resulting in an easier delivery and a shorter incision-to-delivery interval.
