Surgery outcomes of lamellar macular eyes with or without lamellar hole-associated epiretinal proliferation: A meta-analysis
BMC Ophthalmology Aug 29, 2020
Xu H, Qin L, Zhang Y, et al. - Researchers contrasted the structural and functional outcomes of lamellar macular holes with and without lamellar hole-associated epiretinal proliferation (LHEP) after surgery, despite the two different forms of epiretinal membranes. It included publications up to July 2020 that compared lamellar macular hole surgical outcomes with and without LHEP. By using a weighted summary of proportion meta-analysis, forest plots were constructed. It included eight related publications comprising a total of 176 eyes without LHEP, and 173 eyes with LHEP. Compared with patients with LHEP, those without LHEP had better postoperative visual acuity. There was no significant difference in the restored ellipsoid zone between the two groups.
