Surgery for lung tumors in the elderly: A retrospective cohort study on the influence of advanced age (over 80 years) on the development of complications by using a multivariate risk model
International Journal of Surgery Mar 04, 2018
Stamenovic D, et al. - The influence of advanced age (80 + years) on immediate peri-operative outcomes was determined and the potential risk factors that could result in increased morbidity and mortality after lung resections were determined. When compared to septuagenarians, age greater than 80 years was not shown to be significant for the development of complications. Improved outcomes were observed in association with female gender, better lung function (FEV1>72%, DLCO>57%), fewer co-morbidities (ACCI<11), and segmental lung resections.
