Surgery and chemotherapy vs chemotherapy only in older persons with primary intestinal diffuse large B-cell lymphoma
Cancer Management and Research Dec 01, 2021
Zhang L, Huang H, Wang Z, et al. - Researchers retrospectively studied elderly patients (aged > 60 years) with primary intestinal diffuse large B cell lymphoma (PI-DLBCL) with the aim to determine the efficacy of different treatment strategies and prognostic factors for these elderly patients.
Among 46 untreated elderly patients included in this study, 24 were treated with surgery (prior to chemotherapy) plus chemotherapy (SCT) and the other 22 received chemotherapy alone.
Better outcomes for event-free survival, but not overall survival, were recorded among those who received surgery plus chemotherapy when compared with those receiving chemotherapy alone.
