Suprasternal vs transfemoral access for transcatheter aortic valve replacement: Insights from a propensity score matched analysis
Journal of the American Heart Association Aug 18, 2021
Brener MI, Olds A, Nemeth S, et al. - Among patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), suprasternal access was safe and conferred promising short‐term clinical results relative to transfemoral approach.
Two institutional prospective, observational registries were used.
Propensity score matching was applied.
Eligible participants included 89 patients receiving suprasternal TAVR and 159 receiving transfemoral TAVR.
In‐hospital mortality did not differ significantly between the two groups.
No significant difference in the incidence of major bleeding and vascular injury was observed.
No statistically significant difference existed in the frequency of left bundle‐branch block and permanent pacemaker implantation between two groups.
