Anesthesiology | Dec 20, 2017
Hussain N, et al. - The analgesic effect, as well as the safety of suprascapular block and interscalene block for shoulder surgery, were compared in this meta-analysis. Researchers, although, found no clinically meaningful analgesic differences between suprascapular block and interscalene block, data reported that interscalene block affords better pain control during recovery room stay; however, suprascapular block has fewer side effects. Overall, suprascapular block may be considered an effective and safe interscalene block alternative for shoulder surgery.
