Superior laryngeal nerve neuralgia: Case series and review of anterior neck pain syndromes
ENT Journal Apr 25, 2019
Tamaki A, et al. - In this study, investigators explored the superior laryngeal nerve neuralgia (SLNN) among a series of cases diagnosed with and subsequently treated for SLNN. They managed 19 patients with oral nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and/or a therapeutic neck injection with 2% lidocaine and 40% triamcinolone acetonide. According to the visual analog scale, 4 candidates rated their pain as mild, 14 as moderate, and 1 as severe. They suggested therapeutic neck injections effective in confirmation of the diagnosis as well as in the treatment of pain as a complete response to injection therapy was recorded in 10 patients.
