Superficial dermabrasion vs topical tretinoin on early striae distensae: A randomized, pilot study

Hexsel D, et al. - In a prospective, single-center, randomized, open label study, the efficacy of superficial dermabrasion was assessed and compared with that of topical tretinoin cream in the treatment of narrow and early striae distensae (SD). The inclusion criteria comprised of women presenting with early, untreated SD (striae rubra). With significant improvement in early SD from baseline, both treatments were efficacious but there was no significant difference between the two treatments. Nevertheless, superficial dermabrasion presented with a lower frequency of side effects and better adherence of the patients.
