Superficial dermabrasion vs topical tretinoin on early striae distensae: A randomized, pilot study
Dermatologic Surgery Jul 20, 2020
Hexsel D, Soirefmann M, Porto MD, et al. - Researchers conducted this prospective, single‐center, randomized, open‐label study to assess the effectiveness of superficial dermabrasion and compare it with that of topical tretinoin cream in the treatment of narrow and early striae distensae (SD). The sample consisted of 32 women presenting with early, untreated SD (striae rubra). One group received 16 superficial and localized dermabrasion weekly sessions and the other used 0.05% tretinoin cream daily. The authors discovered that both therapies had comparable efficacy but superficial dermabrasion had lower incidence of side effects and improved patient adherence.
