18F-flortaucipir PET/MRI correlations in nonamnestic and amnestic variants of Alzheimer's disease
The Journal of Nuclear Medicine Feb 08, 2018
Nasrallah IM, et al. - Herein, experts ascertained if 18F-flortaucipir (also known as 18F-AV-1451) PET, targeting tau aggregates, identified the nonamnestic Alzheimer's disease (AD) variants varying from amnestic AD in distributions of tau aggregates and neurodegeneration. Additionally, they contrasted the outcomes with MRI measures of gray matter (GM) atrophy. It was demonstrated that 18F-flortaucipir binding corresponded to the expected neurodegeneration patterns in nonamnestic AD. It displayed the potential for earlier recognition of pathology when compared to MRI atrophy measures.
