18F-florbetaben PET/CT to assess Alzheimer's disease: A new analysis method for regional amyloid quantification
Journal of Neuroimaging Feb 07, 2019
Alongi P, et al. - In this investigation, researchers assessed amyloid PET performance using a new processing imaging algorithm (MRI-Less and AAL Atlas) for more exact diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). To create ROC curves, the regional SUVR using the white matter of cerebellum as a reference region and scores from clinical and cognitive tests were used. They retrospectively assessed 44 consecutive patients with clinical evidence of dementia. In 26 of these patients with dementia, the amyloid PET scan was positive. Investigators observed that the best true positive and true negative rates were offered by amyloid and FDG PET, CDR 1, CSF Tau, and p-tau levels showed. A high predictive power for differential diagnosis of AD was seen with amyloid PET using SPM-normalized SUVR analysis.
