Sun protection behaviour after diagnosis of high-risk primary melanoma and risk of a subsequent primary
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Jul 19, 2018
von Schuckmann LA, et al. - Authors evaluated patients’ sun-related behavior after melanoma diagnosis and in relation to further primary melanomas. Clinicians could use the results to identify the patients not using adequate sun protection and provide information for patient counselling. The risk of another primary melanoma in the next 2 years doubled in patients who had a melanoma history before this study if sunscreen use in that time was insufficient. A greater likeliness of inadequate protection was seen in males, smokers, the less-educated, those who tanned or those not self-checking their skin.
