Suicide rates among adolescents and young adults in the United States, 2000-2017
JAMA Jun 22, 2019
Miron O, et al. - The researchers intended to determine the increase in suicide rates in all age groups. A 30% increase in suicide rates in the United States from 2000 to 2016 increasing in all age groups were observed. With increased social media use, anxiety, depression, and self-inflicted injuries, adolescents were in a need of special attention. However, significant suicide rates in youths aged 15 to 24 years were reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, but a precise analysis of the trends in this age group, as well as of the most recent available data in order to determine the increase in suicide rates, is needed.
