Sufentanil Sublingual Tablet System (SSTS) for the management of postoperative pain after major abdominal and gynecological surgery within an ERAS protocol: An observational study

Journal of Pain Research Jul 31, 2019

Turi S, et al. - Researchers examined the efficacy of the Sufentanil Sublingual Tablet System (SSTS) in patients undergoing major surgery within an Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol via retrospectively analyzing 308 consecutive patients undergoing elective major abdominal and gynecological surgery in this observational study. At the end of the surgery, the SSTS device was provided to all patients once they were fully awake and had good control of pain. As per results, SSTS is suggested to be an effective and safe tool for the management of postoperative pain after major abdominal and gynecological surgery within an ERAS protocol despite the retrospective and observational nature of the study, as well as the absence of a comparative group, which limit the strength of evidence.
