Sudden sensorineural hearing loss in children and adolescents: Clinical characteristics and age-related prognosis

Kim JY, et al. – This study outlined the clinical characteristics, treatment outcomes and prognostic factors in children and adolescents with sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL). In the evaluation, the childhood group presented with worse treatment outcomes as compared with the adolescence group. Poor prognostic factors of hearing recovery were the high initial hearing threshold and absence of tinnitus. Hence, active treatment was recommended in patients with these poor prognostic factors and childhood patients with SSNHL.
