Successful treatment outcomes in pregnant patients with ANCA-associated vasculitides: A systematic review of literature
International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases Oct 25, 2018
Singh P, et al. - Given that pregnancy in patients with antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitides (AAV) (a group of small vessel vasculitis with systemic presentations and considerable morbidity and mortality) pose a significant therapeutic challenge, experts evaluated treatment outcomes in pregnant patients with ANCA-associated vasculitides. They noted 29.3 ± 5.3 years to be the mean age at the time of pregnancy. In 69 patients, vasculitis diagnosis was made before pregnancy, in 32 it was made during pregnancy and in 9 patients the diagnosis was made after pregnancy. Out of these patients, there were 91 term pregnancies and 28 preterm pregnancies, so AAV patients can achieve successful pregnancies.
