Successful treatment of erythematous‐squamous disorders of the external auditory canal with tacrolimus and clotrimazole in otic oil: Our experience in 25 patients
Dermatologic Therapy Nov 01, 2020
Navarro‐Triviño FJ, et al. - In view of the fact that the external auditory canal (EAC) comprises a special area where erythematous‐scaly diseases are located, researchers sought to analyze the treatment of erythematous‐squamous disorders of the external auditory canal with tacrolimus and clotrimazole in otic oil. Twenty-five consecutive patients were selected on the dermatological outpatient clinic, 9 men and 16 women, with a clinical diagnosis of localized erythematous‐squamous dermatoses in EAC. The indicated treatment was tacrolimus 0.1% and clotrimazole 1% in otic oil, twice daily, for 1 month. Retreatment demonstrated the same effectiveness found during the first treatment period. The effectiveness and lack of side effects with care make this magistral formula an appropriate therapeutic choice for these dermatoses.
