Success of referral to genetic counseling after positive Lynch syndrome screening test

Irons RF, et al. – Experts aspired to evaluate compliance with genetic counseling (GC) and factors correlated with successful follow–up. In this study, overall GC compliance was relatively low. Strikingly, patients with a strong family history of Lynch syndrome (LS)–associated neoplasms were more inclined to pursue GC. Later on, assessing and addressing barriers to seeking GC would provide opportunities to improve patient care through increased identification of patients with cancer predisposition syndromes.
