Subungual atypical lentiginous melanocytic proliferations in children and adolescents: A clinicopathologic study

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Apr 01, 2018

Khatri SS, et al. - Authors characterized the clinicopathologic features of subungual melanocytic lesions in children (under 20 years of age). Findings suggested that in children and adolescents, some subungual melanocytic lesions were histologically indistinguishable from adult subungual melanoma in situ. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) could help in risk stratification, while the biologic potential remained elusive. In facilitating future investigation into its biologic behavior, awareness of this rare group of lesions was noted to be crucial.
