Sublingual sufentanil for postoperative pain relief: First clinical experiences
Journal of Pain Research Jun 07, 2018
Meijer F, et al. - Researchers presented the first results of the clinical use of sublingual sufentanil tablet system (SSTS) which is a novel hand-held patient-controlled analgesia device developed for treatment of moderate-to-severe postoperative pain. They analyzed data from the adult patients undergoing major surgery in five hospitals in the Netherlands who received the SSTS for postoperative pain relief as part of multimodal pain management that further included paracetamol and a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Findings from this real-life condition data show SSTS as efficacious in managing postoperative pain in abdominal and orthopedic surgeries.
