Sublingual gland excision for the surgical management of plunging ranula
American Journal of Otolaryngology Jun 05, 2018
Chen JX, et al. - Researchers presented their experience regarding managing plunging ranulas with intraoral sublingual gland excision and ranula drainage alone. They confirmed all ranulas by radiographic imaging and gathered the data from the medical record and telephone surveys. As per the findings, for treatment of plunging ranulas, simple transoral excision of the sublingual gland with ranula drainage was sufficient. To prevent relapse it was important to do a full resection of the gland. Low rates of complications and ranula recurrence were seen with this limited approach.
