Subjective patient-reported versus objective adherence to subcutaneous interferon β-1a in multiple sclerosis using RebiSmart: The CORE study
BMC Neurology Sep 08, 2017
Zecca C, et al. - Researchers carried out this CORE study to assess the relationship between subjectively reported and objective adherence of multiple sclerosis (MS) patients using RebiSmart in Switzerland and investigate variables associated with objective adherence. For the first time, they demonstrated that subjective patient-reported adherence in MS was well in line with objective adherence, implying that the frequency of administration was reported correctly by patients to their neurologist. This observation could have implications for future treatment monitoring strategies and strategic medical decisions. Patients could benefit from being better informed of the importance of being adherent to their treatments and receiving information about their medication and the device they were using, especially those who were younger and with lower levels of disability.
