Subcutaneous mastectomy in female-to-male transsexuals â Optimizing perioperative and operative management in 8 years clinical experience
Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery Oct 05, 2017
Wolter A, et al. - In view of initial high hematoma revision rate in the previously published cohort (2008-2013), peri- and postoperative preventive measures were implemented and the results of the previous cohort with recent patient cohort (2014-2016) were compared. Researchers recognized hematoma as the most common reason for reoperation in female-to-male transsexuals (FTMTS) patients. Implementation of peri- and postoperative preventive measures and additional application of an institutional care path resulted in achieving a significant reduction of complications, particularly of the hematoma evacuation rate. During 8 years clinical and operative treatment in FTMTS, they achieved further decrease in operative time and an improved patient satisfaction with the aesthetic results.
