Studies of a next-generation silicon-photomultiplier-based time-of-flight PET/CT system

The Journal of Nuclear Medicine Sep 16, 2017

Hsu DFC, et al. - Researchers aimed to describe system performance studies for the Discovery MI PET/CT system, a novel time-of-flight system based on silicon photomultipliers. They achieved excellent performance with the Discovery MI, including 375 ps FWHM coincidence time resolution and sensitivity of 14 cps/kBq. According to the data, comparisons between reconstruction algorithms and other multimodal silicon photomultiplier and non–silicon photomultiplier PET detector system designs demonstrated that performance can be substantially improved with this next-generation system.
