Structured analysis of histopathological characteristics of vulvar lichen sclerosus in a juvenile population
Human Pathology Oct 31, 2020
Morrel B, Ewing-Graham PC, van der Avoort IAM, et al. - This study was undertaken to evaluate biopsies of 100 juvenile cases of vulvar lichen sclerosus (LS) and examines the presence or absence of the most salient histopathological characteristics of LS. This study’s findings demonstrate that the range of histopathological characteristics known for adult LS is also present in juvenile vulvar LS, even at very young ages, including histopathological features correlated with autoimmune disease, in support of the idea of similar pathogenesis.
