Straight to the operating room: An emergent surgery track for acute testicular torsion transfers
The Journal of Pediatrics Dec 18, 2017
Arevalo MK, et al. - An investigation was set up with regard to the effect of implementing an emergency surgery track for testicular torsion transfers in children. It was revealed that straight to the operating room (STOR) decreased arrival to incision time and hospital cost. However, it did not affect the testicular loss. The occurrence of the bulk of ischemia time in torsion transfers was noted prior to the arrival at the tertiary care center. A need arose for additional interventions targeting delays in diagnosis and transfer for truly improving the testicular salvage rates in these patients.
