Stool cytomegalovirus polymerase chain reaction for the diagnosis of cytomegalovirus-related gastrointestinal disease

Prachasitthisak N, et al. – An analysis was performed to assess the value of stool cytomegalovirus (CMV) real–time PCR in detecting CMV–related gastrointestinal disease (CMV–GI disease) disease among immunocompromised children. In the diagnosis of CMV–GI disease, stool CMV real–time PCR could be used as a noninvasive tool. Plasma CMV real–time PCR demonstrated a significant correlation with stool CMV real–time PCR and also represented high diagnostic values.
