Step-up empiric elimination diet for pediatric and adult eosinophilic esophagitis: The 2-4-6 Study
The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology Nov 01, 2017
Molina-Infante J, et al. - The efficacy of a step-up dietary strategy for eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) was assessed in the present study. Researchers observed that in 43% of children and adults, a two-food group elimination diet (TFGED) (milk and gluten-containing cereals) enabled the attainment of EoE remission. Overall, a step-up approach is beneficial as it avoids unnecessary dietary restrictions, saves endoscopies and shortens the diagnostic process by identifying early a majority of responders to empiric diet with few food triggers.
