Status of choriocapillaris in fellow eyes of patients with unilateral retinal vein occlusions
Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Jan 27, 2021
Maltsev DS, Kulikov AN, Kazak AA, et al. - Researchers conducted the study for analyzing the status of the choriocapillaris in fellow eyes of patients with unilateral retinal vein occlusions (RVOs). Thirty-two healthy eyes of patients with unilateral RVO and 16 eyes of healthy age-matched controls were involved. Based on 3-mm optical coherence tomography angiography scans, choriocapillaris flow voids and device-specific choriocapillaris total flow areas were quantified and their association was determined with the number of resolved para-central acute middle maculopathy lesions on 6-mm OCTA scans. Fellow eyes of patients with unilateral RVO show a substantial reduction of perfusion in choriocapillaris, which correlates with the prevalence of small resolved PAMM lesions.
