Statin use protective for chronic rhinosinusitis in a nationally representative sample of the United States

Wilson JH, et al. - Considering the recent research suggesting anti-inflammatory effects of statins, researchers examined whether statins have therapeutic value in the treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). Via retrospectively reviewing 2006 to 2015 National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey data, they identified 390,538 unweighted visit records for weighted analysis dataset, corresponding to 9,612,613,668 weighted visits. Outcomes revealed decreased rates of CRS in correlation to statin use. Thereby suggesting protective properties of statin medications against CRS.
