Statin use and mortality among endometrial cancer patients: A Danish nationwide cohort study
International Journal of Cancer Oct 13, 2018
Sperling CD, et al. - Researchers investigated how endometrial cancer mortality is influenced by statin use. Participants were all women in Denmark aged 30–84 years with primary endometrial cancer during 2000–2012, identified using the Danish Cancer Registry. Using nationwide registries, data on drug use, mortality outcomes and potential confounders were obtained. For the estimation of hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals for endometrial cancer-specific and other-cause mortality related to statin use, Cox proportional hazards regression models were used. According to findings, improved survival in endometrial cancer patients could be seen in relation to statin use. Reduced mortality among both continuing (pre- and postdiagnosis) users and new (postdiagnosis only) users vs never users was seen in the secondary analysis.
