Statin use and knee osteoarthritis outcomes: A longitudinal cohort study
Arthritis Care & Research Aug 30, 2018
Veronese N, et al. - Authors gauged if statins use was related to lower risk of radiographic (ROA), radiographic symptomatic knee osteoarthritis (SxOA) and pain in North American people. They followed-up a total of 4,448 community-dwelling adults from the Osteoarthritis Initiative for 4 years. Findings suggested that the impact of statins use on knee OA was unclear. Nonetheless, they noted a significantly lower risk of developing knee pain in those using statins for over 5 years and those using atorvastatin.
