Disbrow D, et al. - The effect of statins on colorectal postoperative complications related to sepsis was investigated. Statin medications are associated with decreased risk of sepsis after colorectal surgery and anastomotic leaks after rectal resection. Statins were not found to be associated with surgical site infections or mortality.
