STAT3 deficiency prevents hepatocarcinogenesis and promotes biliary proliferation in thioacetamide-induced liver injury

Abe M, et al. - The role of STAT3 in hepatocarcinogenesis and biliary ductular proliferation following chronic liver injury was clarified in this study. The authors revealed that STAT3 could regulate hepatocyte proliferation as well as transdifferentiation into cholangiocytes. It also served as a therapeutic target for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) inhibition and biliary regeneration.
