Squamous cell carcinoma of unknown primary of the head and neck: Favorable prognostic factors comparable to those in oropharyngeal cancer
Head & Neck Dec 09, 2017
Zhou MJ, et al. - A comparative analysis of the radiotherapy (RT) +/- chemotherapy or neck dissection +/- adjuvant RT/chemoradiotherapy (CRT) for the treatment of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of unknown primary was conducted, and the prognostic factors were determined. Similar outcomes were demonstrated via RT- and surgery-based treatments. It was shown that patients with p16-positive disease and ≤10 pack-year of smoking and limited nodal stage presented as a “low-risk” group in SCC of unknown primary, which was found to be similar to that in oropharyngeal cancer.
