Split-thickness nail bed flap graft in the management of distal partial defect of the nail bed combined with soft tissue

The Journal of Hand Surgery Apr 17, 2020

Li M, et al. - In this study, a surgical procedure was presented for the management of nail bed injuries combined with soft tissue defects. Between 2015 and 2018, the records of patients with a nail bed injury combined with a soft tissue defect, who were surgically treated at our hospital were examined. Five individuals were defined as type 2 and 3 were characterized as type 3, according to the Allen classification. Patients’ medical records were investigated for the Michigan Hand Outcomes Questionnaire, 2-point discrimination, and postoperative healing in the donor area. This study's findings imply that this method is a safe means of repairing a nail bed injury combined with a soft tissue defect.
