Barron N, et al. - Splenectomy was tested as a management option for refractory autoimmune thrombocytopenia (AT)/autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) associated or not with systemic lupus erythematosus. Equal efficacy of open and laparoscopic splenectomies was observed in SLE and AT patients and in those without SLE; however, more relapses were reported in patients with SLE and antiphospholipid syndrome.
