Spinal vs general anesthesia for patients with Parkinson disease
International Journal of General Medicine Feb 06, 2020
Hani DAB, Aleshawi AJ, Al Shalakhti MH, et al. - The present study was conducted to assess the impact of spinal anesthesia (SA) and general anesthesia (GA) in individuals with Parkinson’s disease (PD) who underwent hip fracture repairs. Researchers retrospectively distinguished those individuals with PD who were admitted due to hip joint fracture. A total of ten (8 males) individuals with PD who underwent hip fracture surgery were recruited in this study. They collected the following information: demographics, preoperative assessment information of the individuals, type of anesthesia, and types of fractures and orthopedic methods. Further, intraoperative and postoperative complications were analyzed. The less perioperative complications were noted in the SA. Therefore, future research and rp-randomized controlled trials assessing various anesthetic techniques or drugs are required.
