Spinal radiographic progression in early axial spondyloarthritis: Five-year results from the DESIR cohort
Arthritis Care & Research Nov 25, 2019
Ramiro S, van der Heijde D, Sepriano A, et al. - Axial spondyloarthritis (SpA) individuals from the Devenir des Spondylarthropathies Indifférenciées Récentes cohort with 5-year spinal (cervical and lumbar) radiographs available (n = 549) were involved in his study in order to examine the progression of spinal radiographic damage in people with early axial SpA. Results suggest that spinal radiographic progression, however, limited in early axial SpA, could be identified following 2 years. Inflammation and damage in the sacroiliac joint were related to greater radiographic progression. Also, the presence of baseline syndesmophytes already robustly prognosticated the development of more structural damage early in the disease.
