Specific IgA against Pseudomonas aeruginosa in severe COPD
International Journal of COPD Oct 07, 2017
Millares L, et al. - Stable patients with severe COPD, enrolled in this study, were assessed for immunoglobulin A (IgA)-mediated bronchial specific immune responses against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Patients with severe COPD exhibited low IgA-based immune response against P. aeruginosa. This response was higher in colonized patients but did not attain clear-cut levels above the reference. It was also observed that an impaired local response against P. aeruginosa may favor chronic colonization and recurrent infections in severe COPD.
