Soy isoflavone intake and bladder cancer risk in Japan: From the Takayama study

Wada K, et al. - The protective role of soy isoflavones in the development of cancer has been suggested by growing evidence, therefore, researchers assessed bladder cancer incidence in relation to intake of soy and isoflavone in a population-based prospective study (including 14,233 men and 16,584 women aged 35 years or older) in Japan. The development of bladder cancer was documented in 120 men and 41 women during mean follow-up of 13.6 years. According to findings, men with higher consumption of total soy and isoflavones had a significant decreased risk of bladder cancer.
