International Journal of Epidemiology Sep 29, 2020
Sawada N, Iwasaki M, Yamaji T, et al. - This population-based prospective study in Japan was undertaken to examine prostate cancer mortality in relation to soy, soy products and isoflavones consumption. Participants were 43,580 Japanese men with no history of cancer or cardiovascular disease (aged 45-74 years), and were followed-up from 1995 to 2016. Overall 221 deaths due to prostate cancer were reported during 16.9 years follow-up. Based on the findings, it was concluded that an increased risk of prostate cancer mortality might be observed in relation to high consumption of soy and isoflavones.
