Soluble TREM-1 as a predictive factor of neonatal sepsis: A meta-analysis
Inflammation Research Apr 16, 2018
Bellos I, et al. - Given the efficacy of soluble triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cell-1 (TREM-1) in detecting sepsis in adults, researchers investigated if sTREM-1 can serve as a predictive factor of neonatal sepsis. The estimated sensitivity for the summary point was 0.95 and the specificity was 0.87. When the pre-test probability was set at 25%, an increase in the post-test probability to 71% and decrease to 2% was shown by Fagan’s nomogram. As per the current evidence, sTREM-1 may become a useful biomarker for the prediction of neonatal sepsis.
