Soluble P-selectin levels in patients with obstructive sleep apnea: A systematic review and meta-analysis
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology May 08, 2021
Zhu D, Xu Z, Liu T, et al. - This meta-analysis was undertaken to determine if soluble P-selectin (sP-selectin) levels in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) patients are higher than their counterparts, given a link of raised sP-selectin concentrations with an elevated risk for cardiovascular disease, stroke, atherosclerosis, hypertension, and venous thromboembolism. Eligible studies describing sP-selectin levels of both OSA patients and non-OSA controls were selected from PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science databases. According to pooled data, higher sP-selectin levels were detected in OSA patients vs non-OSA controls. This finding remained unchanged in all subgroups other than the subgroup of mild OSA patients.
