Socioeconomic determinants of the surgical treatment of colorectal liver metastases
American Journal of Surgery Mar 02, 2020
Sell NM, Shafique N, Lee H, et al. - Whether there exist disparities in resection rates of colorectal liver metastases based on socioeconomic status differences, was investigated in this study utilizing the NCDB. Participants included patients of different median household income, who received a diagnosis of colon adenocarcinoma from 2010 to 2015. There were 21,258 eligible patients, including 3,587 (16.9%) who had metastasectomy. A median OS of 17.1 months vs 13.0 months was reported for patients in the highest income quartile vs the lowest quartile. A greater likelihood of receiving metastasectomy as well as longer OS was observed among higher income patients vs lower income patients.
