SNX10 and PTGDS are associated with the progression and prognosis of cervical squamous cell carcinoma

BMC Cancer Jun 16, 2021

Jiang P, Cao Y, Gao F, et al. - Researchers sought to determine the potential mechanism and prognostic genes of cervical cancer (CC), which is the second deadliest malignancy in women. They used R software and bioinformatics tools to analyze the expression profiles of four genes. Using RRA analysis, they identified a total of 147 differential genes, including 73 downregulated and 74 upregulated. Per GO analysis, upregulated DEGs were linked with microtubule binding and downregulated DEGs with serine-type peptidase activity. As per KEGG analysis, these DEGs were primarily enriched in the cell cycle pathway. Screening of eight genes (APOD, CXCL8, MMP1, MMP3, PLOD2, PTGDS, SNX10 and SPP1) was done out of DEGs through GEPIA. Two novel genes PTGDS and SNX10 exhibited abnormal expression and methylation linked with CC development. Findings suggest the possibility of high prognostic value of both these genes for CC patients.
