Snoring frequency and risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus: A prospective cohort study
BMJ Open May 17, 2021
Dai N, Shi Q, Hua Y, et al. - By conducting a cohort study, researchers examined if and how snoring frequency was associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) according to age and gender in Chinese population. They enrolled 49,453 participants (men: 41.8%; mean age: 51.14±10.28 years) in this study. A media of 7.18 years follow-up revealed 1120 T2DM cases. Findings demonstrated an independent link of snoring with an elevated risk of T2DM in Chinese population, both in males and females. Meanwhile, experts found an interaction impact between snoring and age on T2DM risk.
