Smoking and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: A Mendelian randomization study
Annals of Neurology Feb 26, 2019
Zhan Y, et al. – Researchers investigated the impact of smoking on the risk of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) development by using Project MinE data from 12,577 patients with ALS and 23,475 controls in the Mendelian randomization (MR) framework. They found that, compared with those who never smoked, smokers had a higher risk of ALS. Findings, therefore, supported a causal relationship between smoking and ALS development.
